In a move to reduce residential energy use by fifty percent, California Energy Commission has released as of last week that new building laws will be enacted in 2020. The direction is to go towards solar photovoltaic systems within the next two years. As the first in the nation to make such a move, California hopes to set a high standard and significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This law will be enacted as of Jan. 1, 2020 and will be set to include healthcare facilities. The areas of concentration are:
* solar photovoltaic systems
*updated thermal envelope standards
*residential and nonresidential ventilation requirements
*nonresidential lighting requirements
We are so honored to be working as Energy Specialists in a state that is committed to changing the environment for the better with clean energy! The health benefits and cost efficiency of these new laws will pave the road for a future of low emissions.
